Mr. Shipper practices in state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings, throughout the United States.

EXPERIENCE

Mr. Shipper joined HHBJS in 2023. He previously worked as a litigation attorney at a large international law firm, and before that at a boutique firm specializing in employment and civil rights cases.

A majority of Mr. Shipper’s practice involves advising and representing automotive suppliers and specialized vehicle manufacturers in disputes involving pricing, supply chain, cost recovery, and recalls. Mr. Shipper also regularly counsels clients on the effective protection of their trade secrets, proprietary information, and competitive business interests from misappropriation and unfair use, including by enforcing and defending claims for violations of restrictive covenant agreements and trade secret theft in state and federal courts in Michigan and across the country. In addition to his broad litigation experience, Mr. Shipper regularly counsels his clients on best practices to identify, avoid, and resolve disputes before litigation becomes necessary.

Mr. Shipper earned B.A.s from the University of Michigan in 2009, and a J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2013, where he served as Executive Editor of the Loyola University Chicago Law Journal, President of the Business Law Society, and a legal writing tutor for first-year students.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Mr. Shipper serves as an appointed member of the Board of Review reviewing property tax assessment appeals for the City of Huntington Woods, Michigan. Mr. Shipper periodically serves through the Oakland County Bar Association as a discovery mediator in Oakland County Circuit Court, and volunteers with Lakeshore Legal Aid evaluating applications for expungement eligibility and representing qualified applicants in court proceedings to expunge their past criminal record in accordance with Michigan law.
