Mr. Winnie joined the Seabolt Law Firm as an associate in 2018, and then joined HHBJS when the two firms merged in 2020. Now in his sixth year of practice, Mr. Winnie has significant experience in commercial litigation, including supply contract disputes, business torts, and shareholder and member disputes in closely held corporations and LLCs.

EXPERIENCE

Mr. Winnie is experienced in all aspects of pre-trial litigation, including drafting and filing pleadings, discovery, motion practice, case evaluations, and mediations. Mr. Winnie also has experience in Michigan and Federal Courts of Appeals, having drafted applications for leave to appeal, claims of appeal, and appellate briefing and motions. And most recently, Mr. Winnie has represented clients in arbitration before the American Arbitration Association.

Mr. Winnie regularly represents businesses and business owners in contract disputes, fraud and inducement claims, fiduciary duty and shareholder oppression claims, and disputes involving breaches of operating agreements. Mr. Winnie represents a wide array of businesses including tier 1 automotive suppliers, financial service companies, and pharmaceutical start-ups.

 

Significant Recent Results

  • Argued and won summary judgment on consumer protection act and tortious interference claims asserted against automotive component supplier and its executives.
  • Successfully argued and won summary judgment and dismissal of all claims in favor of individual accused of embezzling $600,000 from plaintiff business.
  • Successfully defended former owner of company and won summary disposition and dismissal of $100,000 contract claim from vendor.
  • Obtained mutually beneficial settlement and dismissal of all claims against pharmaceutical company in $15,000,000 dispute relating to manufacturing agreement.
